What should I expect from NICC after submitting my FAFSA?

  1. Approximately one week after you submit your FAFSA, the Federal Student Aid will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR) that estimates the amount of financial aid that you may be eligible for.
  2. NICC will notify you, via mail and email, once your FAFSA has been received at the College.
  3. Log into Self Service for Students, accessible through MyCampus, and review your Financial Aid Checklist.  The Checklist will walk you through the step by step process of completing your financial aid file.
  4. If you have required documents to take action on, follow the links and submit the information to NICC as soon as possible.
  5. Wait for notification (sent to your NICC email address) that your NICC Aid Offer is ready to view in Self Service Financial Aid.
  6. An Aid Offer (previously called an Award Letter) explains the funding you may be eligible to receive such as federal and state grants, scholarships, student loans and work study. It is an estimate based on full-time enrollment and may change based on program of study, enrollment levels and other criteria.
  7. Once you have applied to the College for Admission and have been accepted into a program, grant/scholarship money will be automatically applied to your tuition and fees. If students wish to use student loans to finance their education, additional steps are required to accept loans.
  8. View your account balance in Self Service Student Finance in order to determine how much aid you have or will need in order to pay for your tuition and fees.
